can attest to dr's opening day home run in 1962. doug received $5.00 for his efforts. donated to the league, by mr&mrs don rumph. ken nannini of the vfw would hit one the next inning. vfw would go on to beat the expansion, suburban surplus around 18-3 that day. no slaughter rules back then. i think i had a couple foul balls off the great jack vrana, what a lefty.

DAVE DOMBRO..... I received an email message to you and there was a note in it saying that it was sent from this site. I have tried to reply to it several times but my messages keep getting bounced back with an error message that seems to say that your email address is invalid. That's weird because I am just doing a "reply." Anyway, if you see this message, please contact me again but send your message from a different email address if you have one or send it from outside of this site. I tried to find you here but it doesn't look like you have registered. It was great to hear from you. And, yes, I remember you very well.... the big guy on the tiny moped! Also, it wasn't my brother Jim that worked with you at Jewel. It was me. You worked beverages because you were the biggest and strongest guy there. Swanson was the store manager. Remember Dick Ruszat? He was the second biggest guy there after you. I married his sister, Judie (class of '68), in 1970 and we are still married. She seems to remember you too. It was great hearing from you which makes it really frustrating to not be able to respond to your message. I don't want you to think that I ignored it. Get in touch if you see this message.

I have never been one for class reunions and that sort of thing. In fact, I only attended my 20th class reunion and I regretted that for reasons that are complex and difficult to explain. But like everyone else, memories come back to me. Those memories may come back late at night or when I'm mowing the lawn or doing just about anything. An old song on the radio can bring them back. But they often seem almost unreal and as if they never really happened at all but were rather just dreams. That feeling is more pronounced as the years go by. That's why it's nice to know that there are others out there who share those same experiences and memories. Memories of the Youth Center, school itself, things that happened, the Riverside Restaurant - big things, little things, and so on, and that's what's so nice about a forum like this. Someone may bring up a subject and a flood of faded memories may come rushing back and those memories are stronger when we are reminded that someone else shares them. I want to thank the people who took the time to set this forum up and make this possible. Great work! I really appreciate it. I don't visit it very often but it's nice to know it's here. Also, I have received some messages from old friends and that's always nice. Thanks again.

I was in charge of the press stage for the Wadena,Iowa rock festival. Danny Berkos, Mike Driscoll, and their father and friends created and ran the festival. I'll never forget Johnny Winters, Leon Russell, Savoy Brown, Rotary Connection and Little Richard. It was a 3 day buzz although Danny and I were there a week ahead to begin preparations on the stage, etc. I'm still high! One of my sidekicks was "Hook" from the "Cryin' Shames" A good time was had by all.

I am very lucky to have a big brother-in-law like Doug. I grew up in Riverside on Longcommon Road with two big brothers, Howard (1971) and Chuck (1976). I was also fortunate to have two "big brothers" next door, Don Pratt (1964?) and Bob Pratt (1966). I also had the fun of watching two young ladies walk out of their house in their fancy gowns on different occasions-the Smejkal girls...What a great life!

I have forwarded the reunion link to about thirty alumni via e-mail. I have provided a hard copy to Frank Lopata (67) who owns Alex and Aldo's restaurant in La Grange Park to post. Will there be an article in the Suburban Life? I believe there is a link for west suburban Suburban Life news as follows: http://www.chicagosuburbannews.com/news.php?pub=1 The "Doings" paper would probably also put in an article.
