Meredith Hay Kelly '68 ABC 7 Chicago “Someone You Should Know” - Meredith Hay Kelly '68 donates a tremendous amount of her time and effort to support the health and welfare of our troops in the field at various theaters of operation around the world.  The items she sends help ease the pain of isolation and separation experienced by all troops, especially in a hostile environment.
 
Meredith tirelessly secures these comfort items, packages, transports, and ships these items.  Not to mention all the fund raising events and paperwork involved that consume a tremendous amount of her time.

Unlike other wars, postage is not free and most of these items and postage must be purchased with funds donated by individuals like us and various corporations whom are friendly to the cause.  This is a tireless and costly endeavor and requires a total personal commitment to the cause, which Meredith has.

In a combat situation, one doesn't just run down to the local store and buy Q-tips and other personal hygiene products that are sorely lacking in a third world country. Things that we take for granted in our world are non-existent in his or her combat world. Soldier's rely on others to supply these items.  If a soldier doesn't have a family that helps, he is simply out of luck.  It's hard to describe the positive impact something so small has on the morale and mental well being of a soldier in combat, not to mention the physical comfort these items provide.
